Active Transport Advisor (Cycle Skills Advisor)

As our Active Transport Advisor, you’ll inspire and lead initiatives to promote walking, cycling, and other forms of active transport across Palmerston North. You’ll collaborate with schools, workplaces, and communities to co-design solutions, deliver impactful programmes like Bike Ready, and advocate for sustainable, equitable access to active transport opportunities. 

We’re looking for someone who: 

  • Shares our passion for active transport and health equity. 
  • Has knowledge of cycling and active transport and can deliver impactful solutions. 
  • Can find innovative ways to promote active transport opportunities across the city. 
  • Thrives on building relationships with diverse groups. 
  • Enjoys working as a team and will look for opportunities to connect work across the organisation 
  • Can support and instruct tamariki as well as engage teachers, adults and community members. 
  • Is willing to train as a Bike Ready Cycle Skills instructor if not already qualified.

This role is part time, 30 hours per week during term time only and is fixed term until 30 June 2025.

Regional Sports Director

An exciting opportunity to join the Sport Manawatū team as a Regional Sports Director (RSD). If you are looking to work in a modern, innovative, and interesting environment where no two days are the same, then this could be for you.

The key purpose of the Regional Sports Director (RSD) is to grow, support and maintain the provision of quality sporting experiences for secondary school students. The RSD will have mana and credibility in the secondary schools environment, and a strong understanding of the opportunities sport offers to schools.

More rangatahi participating in secondary school sport is the outcome this role is working towards. This will be achieved through four focused areas:

  • Competition management and delivery.
  • Supporting the school sport workforce and leadership.
  • Using insights to meet the changing needs of rangatahi, and
  • Leveraging existing good practice in sport development for the benefit of schools.

This is a full-time permanent position based in our Palmerston North office but works across the whole Sport Manawatū area.
